Haddenham to Heathrow by train or taxi

Key points

  • By train you change twice: Haddenham and Thame Parkway to London Marylebone, then across London to Paddington, then the Elizabeth line or Heathrow Express to the airport.
  • An airport taxi from your door in Haddenham to your terminal takes about 50 minutes when the roads are clear and costs £85 one way for up to 4 people.
  • For one person with hand luggage the train can be cheaper, while for two or more with suitcases, or an early flight, the taxi usually works out better.

The train route

Haddenham and Thame Parkway station is on the Chiltern line to London Marylebone. From Marylebone, you cross London to Paddington, then take the Elizabeth line or the Heathrow Express to the airport. That means two changes with luggage. You also need to get to the station from your home. Check times before you travel, as the first and last trains of the day may not suit an early or late flight.

The taxi route

An airport taxi picks you up at your door and drops you at your terminal. Heathrow is 42 miles from Haddenham by the M40 and M25. The drive takes about 50 minutes when the roads are clear. The price is fixed at £85 one way for a car with up to 4 passengers, £124 for the 6 seater taxi and £139 for the 8 seater minibus taxi.

What it costs for a group

Train fares are per person. You book the whole vehicle with a taxi. The fare stays the same however many people travel in it. A family of four pays £85 for the taxi, however you split it.

Early and late flights

We are open 24 hours a day, every day. A 4am pickup for an early flight is no different to a midday one. The taxi also works for the journey home when you land late at night.
